i have had symptoms recently that are similar to Adult ADHD, but i was not diagnosed with any learning problems before the age of 7. I’ve always been disorganized, lazy, etc, but lately i’ve had trouble learning things in my college courses. its not that the courses are too challenging, its that i simply cannot concentrate on the work at all no matter how hard i try and how many study tips i use. is there a solution to my problem that can help save my grades?
ADHD is hard to diagnose, and the fact that you were not before the age of 7 means very little. You could still have ADHD, or your life could just be more stress full right now. Medications that are carefully controlled do help. Talk to your doctor about Strattera or Concerta.
Meanwhile, try some moderate exercise before class, or if that’s not your thing, watch some show that you think is really funny, to get some laughs in. Either will help get your brain working.

My bi-polar sister tells me that bi-polar disorder and ADHD are often mistaken for one another. Additionally, ADHD does not have to be diagnosed prior to the age of 7. At that age, it’s difficult to tell the difference between attention deficit and youth. One more thing, your symptoms may simply be stress related. If you can back off a little, drop a class or work less, you may find that you can cope more easily. Good luck.
Just because you weren’t diagnosed, doesn’t mean you aren’t ADHD. Speak with your doctor, You could have ADHD, or another learning disorder. Are you getting enough rest? It won’t cure a learning disorder but it might help.
I have been this way all my life, never beeen diagnosed, but I KNOW something is not right!
